Occupation: Professional Wado-Ryu Karate Instructor.
Why study Wado-Ryu: I first started Wado-Ryu Karate-Do in 1969 as a means of self-defence. However, as I became aware of the intricacies of Wado-Ryu Karate-Do my interest developed. Wado Ryu Karate-Do, much to my surprise, offered much more than basic self-defence.
Most important benefit from WKA: After practising Wado-Ryu Karate-Do for over 35 years, I have enjoyed teaching students of all ages. As an instructor, one is able to guide one's student from the first elements of Wado-Ryu Karate-Do, which focuses on mastering techniques, to the more complex side of fusing the physical with the spiritual. As the student progresses towards the Dan-grades (black belt), I am able to participate in their process of personal development. Moreover, as I continue to train under the guidance of the Wado-Ryu Karate-Do masters, and continue to learn more, my own sense of personal development grows, and I am able to communicate this important experience to my students.

In addition to the individual aspect of Wado-Ryu Karate-Do, I have always belonged to internationally recognised Wado-Ryu Karate-Do organisations, which has afforded me the chance to participate in courses and competitions across the globe. This has also allowed me to meld both national and international friendships through a common interest.

Although my initial attraction to Karate was self-defence, after realising the depths of this fascinating discipline of Wado-Ryu Karate-Do, I started my own journey of self-discovery.
